While the crusade against tobacco has probably gone too far – from raising awareness to something akin to persecution of smokers themselves – there is a debatable case for regulation because of the potential harm of secondhand smoke. No such cause exists for e-cigarettes, and it’s questionable what these ordinances will achieve beyond clamping down on a new industry that is pushing the bounds of nanny-state control.
